Farm Animals Speak Out

MUTTS by Patrick McDonnellThere’s nothing funny about factory farming, but this week it’s found a place in the funny pages. Patrick McDonnell, a tireless advocate for animals, is once again lending his artistic talent to promoting animal protection—this time devoting a full week of his MUTTS strip to the humane treatment of farm animals.

Patrick has served on The HSUS’s Board since 2000 and we’re so fortunate to count him as a member. And we can’t thank him enough for joining with us in our campaign to pass California’s Proposition 2. In addition to penning the MUTTS strips, this Saturday Patrick will host an exhibition of his paintings in Los Angeles to benefit YES! on Prop 2.

If you have the current issue of our member magazine All Animals, you’ll see a profile of Patrick on page 10. A few pages later, look for a story about a few of the faces behind Prop 2 (we’ve also posted that piece online).

I’ve included the first four of Patrick’s strips below. You can follow along for the rest of the week on our website, where we’ll post the remaining strips. Let’s all join with Patrick in giving farm animals a voice.
