Photos to Melt Hearts (And Snow)

Here in the Mid-Atlantic we’ve been covered up by two winter storms in the past week. In the D.C. area, where The HSUS is headquartered, we’re experiencing the snowiest winter on record.

If you’re among the many holed up at home by Mother Nature, one way you can beat cabin fever is by entering our Spay Day Online Pet Photo Contest, or by browsing and voting for some of the great pet photos already submitted. Or if you have a dog who enjoys the snow, maybe you can even capture a contest-winning picture of him or her out in the white stuff—or a photo of your cat watching from the window. They’d be in good company—we’ve had several snow-loving pets entered in the past two years’ photo contests (you can see a few of them below).

But wherever you are—snowed in or in some more hospitable setting—be sure to enter the photo contest before Feb. 26. As always we have some great prizes this year, including a four-night trip for two to Hollywood for the 2011 Genesis Awards, a studio session for your pet with premier pet photographer Amanda Jones, custom paintings of your pet by pet portrait artist Janie Coleman, Canon point-and-shoot digital cameras, and a $500 electronic gift card to The HSUS’s online store, Humane Domain. And just by entering and gathering votes for your pet, you’ll be raising critical funds for spay and neuter efforts worldwide—and helping to end pet homelessness.
