One Phone Call to Help Horses and Wildlife
The House of Representatives is debating a bill today that sets U.S. Department of Agriculture spending. Please call your U.S. representative now to oppose any pro-horse slaughter amendment and to support an amendment cutting funding for killing wolves and other wild animals with cruel methods such as poisons and steel-jawed traps.
Our Work for Animals Won’t Be Slowed by Smear Campaign
For the past few years, PR operative Rick Berman has been running an advertising campaign against The HSUS. While he wages his smear campaign, our staff continue to care for animals at our sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers, rescue pets from cruelty and disasters, crack down on animal fighting, promote shelter pet adoption, improve conditions for farm animals, and more.
Hope on the Horizon for Rescued Animals
When our Animal Rescue Team removed nearly 700 cats from horrible conditions this week, one cat, Velcro, was especially loving and trusting, reminding us of the faith that other creatures place in us. Here are a few of your comments about the rescue.

The HSUS Animal Rescue Team just saved nearly 700 cats from a horrible situation at the request of Alachua County Animal Services in Florida. Today is already a better day for these animals, thanks to your support that makes these life-saving rescues possible.
Facebook Founder Faces Food
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that he’d no longer eat meat unless he’d killed the animals himself. While many people expressed shock, it’s a reminder that eating meat involves the killing of animals, and that too many of us prefer not to think about how food gets to our table.

Rescued Horses Show Their Fighting Spirit
A horse who previously survived a trailer crash on the way to a Mexican slaughterhouse also survived a severe tornado in Oklahoma last week, along with her foal. In Missouri, our Animal Rescue Team is helping to care for displaced pets at a shelter in Joplin.
